Senior personal care

personal care

Personal care for our clients is at the top of our priority list. There are no personal care items that we don’t have on our list of client ‘to-do’s’. The list below represents those things that come up most often.

Housekeeping

Housekeeping help can prolong a senior’s ability to live independently at home. Therefore, our home aides’ housekeeping services include vacuuming, dusting, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms, and cleaning kitchens.

Meal Preparation

Eating nutritious meals can make health issues easier to manage. They also help prevent future health problems, help increase energy levels, and keep weight in check. In those cases, our home aides cook hot, delicious, wholesome meals. In addition, they allow clients to help with preparation according to their ability. This can make mealtime a more social and enjoyable experience.

Grocery shopping and errands

Illness, weakness, and an inability to drive are just a few of the factors keeping seniors from working through to-do lists. Therefore, our home aides shop for groceries at their clients’ preferred stores and run errands, such as picking up prescriptions or stopping at the post office. Clients may choose to stay home or come along for the ride as a way to stay active and engaged.

Incidental transportation

One way to help prevent the social isolation, loneliness, and depression common in seniors is to simply get out and about. If driving isn’t an option, our home aides provide transportation incidental to other care services. This includes taking clients to medical appointments, shopping, meeting a friend for lunch, or wherever else a client wants to go. Being out and about benefits a senior’s mind, body, and spirit and is an integral part of our caregiving.

Laundry

Clean laundry is a necessity, but some seniors find this chore too physically demanding to do alone. In such cases, our home aides can take care of all laundry needs, either in the client’s home or at a nearby laundromat.

Grooming assistance

Paying special attention to grooming can help a senior feel and look better. As a person ages, grooming can sometimes present physical challenges. In these cases, our home aides assist clients with shampooing, shaving, hair combing and styling, and other grooming. Caring for these needs helps seniors look and feel their best.

Medication reminders

Although home aides cannot administer medications, they can help ensure that clients take their medication as prescribed. In addition, they assist with opening medication containers, reading labels, and reminding the client when it is time for the next dose.
